London Scottish Golf Club, set in beautiful heath and woodland by the windmill on Wimbledon Common, is an out of the ordinary 18-hole golf course. The longest continuously played-upon links in England, it is sited on gravel, so the course always drains fantastically well. The grade II listed wood-panelled clubhouse is one of the few in Britain that remains from the Victorian era, and is a wonderful setting for your after-match refreshments. A couple of minutes from the A3 and 15 minutes from the M25, the course is highly accessible, with great parking facilities.
What they say about London Scottish Golf Course:
"This almost intact 19th century course is a lesson in golf architecture and in the manner in which the game was once, and should still be, played. At first the layout looks innocuous - the course appears to be scattered over the land rather than dominating it in the imperious modern manner - but then the Americans say that of St Andrews, don't they...?" - Golf Europe
"There is an old-fashioned air about golf at Wimbledon. It has at least one supreme virtue: that of naturalness. Those clumps of gorse and the deep ravines where the birches grow were put there by the hand of nature herself, who is infinitely more artistic than any golfing architect." - Bernard Darwin, Historic Golf Courses of the British Isles
