Mark Bright joined Scottish in 2011 from Redruth in Cornwall and has since established himself as one of the club’s most important players.

Leading the side as captain from his customary No. 8 position, Bright was voted Player of the Season in 2012/13 after a phenomenal season, in which he was also named in the official RFU Championship Dream XV.

A strong ball-carrier, Bright has played ITM Cup rugby in his native New Zealand for the Tasman Makos, as well as spending six years at Redruth. Despite turning 40 last September, Bright gets better with age.

During the 2013/14 season he scored 21 tries in 28 games which saw him shortlisted for the Championship Player of the Year Award and named once again in the Championship Dream XV.

He also scooped the Caledonia Best Taste of Scotland Supporters’ Player of the Year Award at the Club’s End of Season Dinner and was called up to the England Sevens squad ahead of July’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
