Words from the Pride – Richmond

Ahead of a titanic clash of two rivals both battling relegation in this weekend’s play off game we sat down with Head Coach Joe Gray to hear his thoughts on preparation going into what will be a season defining afternoon at the RAG.

“There’s no shying away from this weekend and what it means to the Club, the players and supporters. It’s do or die time for everyone involved and we have to face up to that.

Last weekend’s win against Caldy was massive for us, we didn’t have our full squad available to us and got hit by further injuries during the game but we battled through it and showed the resolve to get over the line. It’s that sort of fight and dog that’s going to be needed again this weekend, and now we’ve proven we can do it, then I’m super confident in our abilities to go out and get another win.”

Commenting on the game against Richmond a fortnight ago and how it impacts this Saturday’s fixture, Joe has said “it’s a funny one, playing against the side you took on a fortnight ago. It mean’s we’ve got a lot of game tape on each other and a chance to fix things we didn’t quite get right last time but also look for ways to get an edge.

Ultimately, it comes down to doing our basics well, being super physical and staying in the fight for eighty minutes. If we stick to task and get our discipline and accuracy on point then we’ll be in a good spot come the final whistle.”
