10 Of the Best For London Scottish

London Scottish ran in ten tries in a stunning victory over Cambridge in their penultimate home fixture of the season. Despite a first half comeback London Scottish were always in control of this game in a season defining performance as they leapfrog Chinnor to go 9th in the Championship.

The opening twenty minutes all went London Scottish’s way starting with a short range try from Ioan Rhys Davies, picking and going off the back of the maul. Next Matt Wilkinson gallopped in from the 22 for a sensational solo try.

The Scots had the bonus point sewed up soon after, following a long range try from Hayden Hyde as his side went the length of the pitch having turned the ball over. This was after Zach Carr linked up with Roma Zheng down the short side to score a try of his own.

However, Cambridge fought back massively in the final mintues of the first half. Running in three tries of their own the sides went into the break with just five points seperating them and with the wind at Cambridge’s back for the second half.

Scottish needed a big second half and they got just that. A short range score from Harry Sheppard off the back of a driving maul was coupled with a long range effort from Jonny Law who pounced on a loose ball off the back of a scrum.

Law would go one better a few minutes later with a stunning intercept. Fellow scrum half Stephen Kerins also grabbed one of his own as he linked up with his teammates to get in the end of another long range effort.

Scottish would run in two more tries in the final minutes including one for departing Will Brown who played his final game for the Exiles after two seasons at the Club.

Finishing 60-33 Scottish flew up the table as a result of this performance and cemented this season as one of their most successful in a decade. Looking at the final three weeks can Joe Gray and Bryan Redpath’s men go one better and pick up more wins before the end of the season?
