The 2017/18 Greene King IPA Championship fixtures have been announced, with the Scots hosting Yorkshire Carnegie on the opening day at the Athletic Ground.

Director of Rugby Dave Morris will be looking to get off to a positive start on the first weekend when the Leeds outfit head down to Richmond on 1/2/3 September.

The following weekend sees the Scots head to Goldington Road to take on Bedford Blues in round two, and they will then welcome Nottingham to conclude their opening three matches of the campaign.

Stand-out fixtures including the Athletic Ground derbies against old foes Richmond will take place in December and April, as well as welcoming Bristol back to TW9 in February.

The Championship season will finish at Headingley on Saturday April 28th in a re-match of the opening fixture.

Our pre-season fixtures have already been revealed, with the Scots taking on Rosslyn Park away on Saturday 12th August before hosting Cardiff Blues the following Saturday at the Athletic Ground.

Director of Rugby Dave Morris says the fixtures being released gives everyone extra anticipation for the campaign to get underway:

Commenting ahead of the 2017/18 season, Chairman of the Greene King IPA Championship, Geoff Irvine, said: As we continue with our planning and preparation for next season it’s clear that there’s a great deal to be excited about.

With next season being the first one without the play-offs – which have been replaced by a new prize money incentive – the competition among teams will be as high as ever as they look to play for their stake in the winning fund and secure their position in the league at the end of the season.”

Head of Professional Rugby at the Rugby Football Union, Nigel Melville, added: Next season will be an exciting one for the Greene King IPA Championship. We have been working alongside the clubs to identify positive opportunities to develop and grow the competition.

With more movement of Elite Academy Players now available across the top three tiers of the game, we hope to see a rising number of young academy players playing Championship rugby next season.

We have also been working behind the scenes to provide the competition with increased marketing support, taking the competition to a wider audience.”

British and Irish Cup pools will be revealed at a later date.
