First team coach Dave Morris was down early on Sunday to watch the talent in the minis section of the club.
He stopped by to talk to the U12’s during their training session, and a couple of things he mentioned to them was to work together, and to play with a smile on their faces. Similar advice to that given by Scottish legend Gavin Hastings as he dropped in on the first team before their match with Nottingham the day before.
The boys took the message to heart, and it showed in the effort they put into the rest of the training session. Earlier in the day Community Coach Andrew Evans was down to hand out an U12’s Information Pack with sections on Passing, Mindset, Fitness, Awareness, Body position and Kicking.
At a later date the players will be given the Skills Passport that they will be working through during the season, focussing on:
The boys get assessed throughout the season on these aspects to make sure they get the most from the game and develop into future rugby stars.
At the end, as the team posed for a photo with Dave, it was his son Morgan who stole the show as he raced off with the ball. He’s definitely one to watch for the future.
