Jared Saunders is the newest signing at The Athletic Ground after agreeing to join the club from Jersey Reds.
The 27 year old made seventeen appearances for Jersey Reds this season, despite a mid-season injury, and was a key part of their devastating forward pack which turned over Scottish four times last season.
Jared was happy to be joining up with the Scots for the 2018/19 season and was clearly excited to link up with the Exiles. “I am extremely excited about the opportunity to join London Scottish and becoming a part of their squad and culture. They have an attractive playing style and I look forward to contributing as much as possible to their game and making new memories. I believe we can have a successful year both on and off the pitch and I can’t wait to get started!”
The hooker brings plenty of pedigree to the RAG after making 23 appearances for Aviva Premiership and European giants Saracens. No doubt Jared would have made even more appearances if it had not been for the likes of Jamie George and Schalk Brits.
Saunders is a very dynamic hooker with very good handling skills and will look to help Scottish with their expansive game style.
Director of Rugby Dave Morris was thrilled to add Jared to next season’s squad. “Jared has been in some very good environments and will bring a level of physicality needed for us to be successful in the Championship next season. Speaking to Jared, I felt he showed good self-awareness about his transition from the Premiership to the demands of the Championship and importantly he still has aspirations to return to the top level. He will bring a good energy to our environment as well as his experience to impart on our younger players.”
