It was a mighty gathering of London Scots from right across our whole club on Friday night at The Athletic Ground as the #OneClub philosophy was on full show.

After Ralph Potter and his friends piped everyone in for the Supper, we were welcomed by Club President Paul Burnell. Co-organiser of the event Jock Meikle followed on and started the formal proceedings with a bilingual Toast to the Haggis (English & Scottish!) followed by Sandy Clark springing up and making a reply on behalf of the Haggis.

After a sumptuous dinner rounded off with coffee and Tunnocks, up stepped London Scottish Lions player-coach Fraser Lyle to deliver as fine a Toast to the Lassies as we have heard for many a year. A tough act to follow but Amanda Brock was up for the challenge and came back with an equally witty and erudite reply.

The Immortal Memory by James Fairbairn made us laugh and made us proud as he sang the praises of London Scottish while delivering his insights on Robert Burns. He finished with a song about London Scottish that he composed in the style of a Burns song, a lovely touch.

This magnificent finish to the formal part of the evening was followed up with the music of The Clan. Frank and Iain McKay soon had everyone on their feet and dancing the night away.

Thanks to everyone who contributed raffle prizes, auction items, the performers and everyone who came along to support every aspect of the evening and have a great time. It was a massive club effort to put on such a quality event and thanks must go to every single person that had any involvement in putting on a successful 2019 Burns Supper.
