The 2019 London Scottish Legends Dinner on Thursday 16th May at The Hurlingham Club is a first class opportunity to celebrate all that’s been achieved throughout the Club during the season, to raise funds and, above all to honour some great former players from different eras into the Club’s ‘Hall of Fame’.

Our 2019 London Scottish Hall of Fame inductees are Robin Marshall, Billy Steele, Rob Wainwright and Simon Amor.

• Robin Marshall played in the late 1950s and 1960s and is most remembered and lauded for his role as captain of the London Scottish side that won the prestigious Twickenham Sevens five years in a row. He also was part of a London Scottish side that won at the Melrose 7s in 1962. Robin returned to London Scottish after his playing days, becoming President of the Club in the 1990s.

• Billy Steele won 23 caps for Scotland making his debut appearance at Twickenham in 1969. He was a member of the 1971 ‘wham-bam’ team that secured two victories over England in a week and he was part of the unbeaten British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa in 1974, starting two tests. Steele played most of his rugby with the RAF, where he was employed as a physical training instructor. He played for London Scottish during the 1970s.

• Former Scotland international flanker Rob Wainwright represented London Scottish in the 1990s. During his career he amassed a magnificent 37 Scotland caps and led his country as captain on 16 occasions. Rob was a member of the 1997 British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa and received his Lions cap after starting the third test at Ellis Park, Johannesburg in front to 62,000 people.

• Simon Amor, a former London Scottish player/coach from 2008 to 2013. He helped Scottish to the National Two title in 2009 and followed that with the National One title in 2011. Amor also coached the Scots during their first two Championship seasons from 2011-2013. Simon was an England rugby Sevens phenomenon as a player, winning World Sevens Player of the Year in 2004, and is now England Sevens Head Coach. Simon also coached the silver medal-winning GB 7s team at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
