London Scottish is very happy to announce that Mark Bright will remain at Scottish next season after signing a new contract.
The London Scottish Hall of Famer will stay for his seventh season at The Athletic Ground after joining in 2011 from Redruth.
This past season the number eight brought up his 150th appearance for the Scots and despite being 40 years young, the Kiwi still only missed one game during the 2018/19 campaign.
A skilled ball carrier with an amazing ability to avoid the tackle, Bright is a vital cog in the London Scottish side and will be an integral part of the new look forward pack next season.
Bright was pleased to be able to call the RAG home for another season.
“I am very pleased to be staying at London Scottish next season, the Club means a lot to me and my family with all three of my boys now involved in the Minis and Juniors. I would like to thank everyone involved for getting this contract over the line and I cannot wait to get started again in June.”
In his first stint with Scottish, Bright was a force of nature, being selected for the Championship Dream Team on multiple occasions and spearheaded a fearless Scottish side. During the 14/15 season, Bright scored an astounding 28 tries in one season and followed that up the next season with 19 tries.
Last season Bright was named the captain of the Scots once again making 27 appearances, scoring 4 tries. Despite suffering a broken leg at the back end of last season, Bright still played the remaining two games. The back rower will now recover during the offseason and will be raring to go after a slight rest.
Bright has an impressive rugby CV from a remarkable and extended playing career, representing the Tasman Makos in the ITM Cup in New Zealand, playing for Redruth in Cornwall, spending two years at Ealing Trailfinders and representing England 7s at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.
Director of Rugby Dave Morris was over the moon to have Brighty back for another season.
“Mark is an iconic figure at London Scottish and within the Greene King IPA Championship”, said Morris.
Morris continued, “he is an extremely intelligent rugby player and last season was involved in every game which is a huge testament to his toughness and passion for pulling on the London Scottish jersey. Mark is a great role model for our young professional squad and also for the London Scottish minis who helps to coach.”
