Young second row Matas Jurevicius has signed a new contract with the Scots keeping him at The Athletic Ground for another year.
Matas played his junior rugby with London Scottish and was one of the leading lights in the Colts programme last year. He impressed so much that he received England Counties Under 18 recognition and thus a contract with the London Scottish 1st XV for the 18/19 season.
Jurevicius has had a highly successful first season in the professional set up at London Scottish. He has been part of the Professional Entry Programme and has developed physically whilst improving his game on loan at National Two South Tonbridge Juddians.
Despite still being only 19, the second row will be staking his claim for a position in the 1st XV next season.
Jurevicius has again gained international recognition this year. He has been selected for the England Counties Under 20 for their tour to Romania.
The former Hayes schoolboy was looking forward to another season with the exiles.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to train and play with the 1XV and I am looking forward to next season.”
Head coach Graham Steadman was pleased to keep an exciting talent in his squad.
“Matas is an impressive young man who handles himself well at training and around the squad. Hopefully he can continue to grow as a player with us next season.”
