London Scottish girls section have been in existence for four seasons over which time numbers have been growing gradually.
This last 2016-17 season was the first with sufficient numbers in the U18 squad to be able to fulfil a series of 15-a-side fixtures.
During the course of the season the benefits of regular squad training paid dividends and built squad spirit ably assisted by joint squad captains. Results during the season were games played 9, won 6, lost 3. These included winning the RFU Area Cup Plate Final.
2017-18 Objectives
For the coming season the squad will have lost three players moving up to senior but there are a number of highly experienced U15s moving up to bolster the squad. As a result we should have a squad of at least 20 players with a good level of experience.
Subject to confirmation of the format, we expect to enter the RFU Girls Cup competition again this season (girls don’t have leagues).
The wish is for the squad to develop their skills and experience off the back of what they have achieved together in the last season with a smooth transition for U15s moving up. Strengthening individual players’ positional awareness and skills will be a particular target.
Coaching Requirement
The squad management believe that it is important for junior players to be exposed to new coaches and non-parent coaches as they reach the upper age groups and we are therefore seeking an additional coach to join the current squad coaching team with specific responsibility for the U18s.
Attributes
A coach with a forwards background would be helpful – to balance an existing coach with a backs bias.
