Scots name team for Championship climax against Nottingham

14th April 2017

London Scottish have named their team for tomorrow’s final match of the season against Nottingham at the Athletic Ground.

The Scots know that a win will see them finish in seventh place in the Greene King IPA Championship and have made three changes to their starting line up from the side that were beaten in the local derby with Ealing Trailfinders last weekend.

Scottish will be captained by Jason Harries as the 2016/17 season rounds to a close.

Grant Shiells and Ewan McQuillin are joined by Worcester hooker Matti Williams in the front-row, with Dom McGeekie and Alex Woolford continuing their second-row partnership. The back-row stays unchanged, with Matt Marley, Joe Atkinson and Dave Sisi looking to give the backs some front foot ball.

Ed Hoadley and Harry Sheppard maintain their places at half-backs, with Tom Galbraith and Alec Coombes making up an all-Scottish centre pairing. Jason Harries, Ben Rath and Peter Lydon start in an attacking back-three.

Michael Liness, Jonny Harris and Phil Cringle offer a front-row alternative, with Charlie Hewitt covering the rest of the pack. Craig Holland, George Cullen and Matt Williams complete the match day squad.

Head Coach Peter Richards is convinced that the players will give everything as they look to sign off the campaign with a morale boosting victory.

“There have been lots of changes recently at the club but as a group it’s really important for us to sign off on a high.”

He added: “Ourselves and Nottingham are in a similar position with only pride to play for but for us to end with a win in front of our home supporters would be great.”
