Myra Eburne, who is involved in the Mini’s section of the club, has embarked on a 60km trek in Uganda in aid of Compassion, the child sponsorship initiative.
Myra left on 19th May, and completed a one day 60km trek near Kasese Uganda to raise money to build a school in the area. The walk took 12 hours, and even the elite marathon runner on the group took 1.5 hours longer than his usual, in what was a real test of stamina and mental health.
The charity Compassion also operates in the Philippines, and is very efficient and transparent. You can donate and benefit the children directly. See more here: https://www.compassionuk.org/
Myra has been part of the child sponsorship initiative with Compassion for the last 12 years, through whom she sponsors six children to go to school. The partnership's aim is to provide hope and a future in young children's lives and break the cycle of poverty in a every child's family.
