The U9s had 2 teams participating in the Middlesex Festival. There were 65 teams competing from all the strongest clubs. The atmosphere was intense and not unlike Edinburgh or Twickenham on a big match day!
The U9s B team won 3 of their 4 pool matches. A terrific effort. The sole defeat was a narrow 1 try loss which was even more creditable because the team was short of 2 starting players and also had no subs. The leg weary B Team lost the Plate Final. It was a tough match as all finals should be.
The U9s Development team won 2 of their 4 pool matches. One defeat was a narrow 1 try loss. The Development team lost their Final, short of 1 starting player and with no subs. It was also a tough match where Scottish gave their all. Scottish were the better team in the second half outscoring their opponents.
Each team defended throughout with intensity and some terrific tries were scored. If the teams had the full compliment of starting players plus subs then in all likelihood the U9 teams would have come away from the Middlesex Festival with a cup or two. The 2 teams can be very proud of their performance. Well done the U9s!
