Having been running girls rugby for the last 6 years, the team at London Scottish firmly believe in trying to offer girls rugby as an opportunity to all comers whether you are new to the game and want to learn a sport in a friendly environment or have aspirations to go on and play at the highest possible level.
The female game in England has a clear structure with the foundation being girls club rugby played in three distinct age bands; U13 (school years 7 & 8), U15 (years 9 & 10) and U18 (years 11, 12 & 13).
With a core group of girls, a team of coaches and a squad manager we are well placed to support the development of female players through their pathway.
For those girls with elite performance aspirations we will assist them in achieving selection to play representative county rugby, which is possible in both the U15 and U18 age bands. Over the years the majority of our players have played county level rugby and enjoyed the additional challenge this offers.
From county rugby there is an opportunity for players at U18 level to be selected for a place on one of the regional Centres of Excellence based with Women’s Premiership teams. A number of London Scottish players are currently in the Richmond Centre of Excellence.
Beyond that we are keen to support players go continue playing rugby as an adult at either University or club level which is a path followed by several former London Scottish players.
Each age group has RFU qualified coaches and we train and play on Sundays 11:30 to 13:30.
Additional U18 training takes place on Wednesday nights at the Club.
