Youth Section update – forthcoming events

With the 2013-14 season fast approaching we would like to make you aware of the following upcoming dates and changes for all mini and junior age groups.

·         Saturday 31st AugustFamily Fun Day.

London Scottish welcome Esher to the Athletic Ground for their final friendly before the Greene King IPA Championship kicks off in a fortnight. Scottish have been working extremely hard during pre-season and have put in positive performances against both Harlequins and Richmond.

Everyone at the club are excited and looking forward to the forthcoming season. Please see below details of the activities on offer on Saturday.

 

o   Family Ticket Discount for London Scottish Members, with family tickets (2 adults + 3 children) for just £10, why not come down and make a day of it.

N.B. This offer is only valid on presentation of completed voucher, which can be found at the club website, www.londonscottish.com 

o   Skills Fun Zone. Ross Peacock, Community Development Officer, will be leading a skills zone during the match. The sessions will run on a turn up and play basis for any youngsters that are interested.  Ross will be situated beside the main pitch, for the duration of the game, so you can watch the game whilst the minis gain some valuable skills.

o   Fastest Pass competition – Following on from the success of the summer fairs, the Deutsche Bank passing cage will make a come-back and everyone will have a chance to record the fastest pass on the day.

o   Bouncy Castle – For those who have tried out everything else on offer there is a chance to unwind with the bouncy castle.

o   Guard of Honour – if any minis would like to form the Guard of Honour at the start of the match, let Ross know on the day. Please note that anyone who would like to be involved in the Guard of Honour and become famous for the day will need to be in the London Scottish minis and juniors playing kit.

 

·         Sunday 1st September. – Mini and Junior Registration Days.

The Youth Section Registration Days will be held at the Athletic Ground on Sunday 1st, Sunday 8th and Sunday 15th September.

Requirements on September 1 are as follows:  Minis trainng and registration, 9.30-11.30am. U6-U8, pitch four; U10-U11, pitch seven; U12, pitch six. This means the U6’s-U8’s playing in front of the clubhouse and the U10-U12’s on the pitches at the back (it’s easier to park in the rear car park for those on the back pitches).

Juniors training and registration, 12-2pm. No match meals requirements on September 1st.

 

o   Registration – It’s always busy at the start of the season as people return from holiday throughout the first few sessions with lots of registrations to get through. If you would like to avoid the queues and maximise your rugby playing time by taking out membership online beforehand, please visit the London Scottish website at www.londonscottish.com.

o   Gum Shield Fitting – Opro, the largest manufacturer of mouth guards in the world will be down offering specialist gum shield fitting sessions for anyone that requires one for the forthcoming season. At a special discounted rate – please make sure you don’t miss out!

o   Playing Kit – Make sure you are ready for the 2013-14 playing season by ensuring you have the correct London Scottish playing kit. You’ll be able to buy the playing kit at the ground. Fiona Strongman, London Scottish Merchandise Manager will be on hand to help you with any questions or queries that you may have about this season’s playing kit. To confirm the 2013-14 mini and junior playing kit is as follows,“CCC Classic Shirt plain navy Long Sleeved”, blue London Scottish shorts and red socks.

 

·         Saturday 14th September 1 Big Rugby Weekend.

London Scottish take on newly promoted, Ealing Trailfinders at Allianz Park in their opening fixture of the 2013-13 Greene King IPA Championship, whilst London Welsh take on Bedford Blues. With a great weekend of rugby on offer and tickets available from just £5, make sure you don’t miss out!

 

o   Tickets – Tickets are available from the London Scottish office (0208 940 7156). Please book early to avoid disappointment.

o   Guard of Honour – The Minis have been asked to form the Guard of Honour for the players. If interested, please contact Ian Hannah, Head of Mini Rugby – lsfc.minis@btinternet.com.

 

·         Sunday 15th SeptemberThe Club BBQ.

Starting after training on Sunday 15th September, the club BBQ is a great way to kick off the new season and meet your new team mates. There will be further details published on the website soon, however, in the mean time, please see below regarding what is on offer:

 

o   The minis club photo – Taking place in the main stand, please ensure that all minis are in the correct playing kit (shirt, shorts and red-socks).

o   Meet the rest of the club – To continue to maintain our one club philosophy the Club BBQ, is open toall sections of the club. This is a great chance for everyone to meet up with other members of the club, including the professional players. Don’t miss out!

o   Touch Rugby – Back by popular demand following the Minis picnic last year we are hoping to run a fun game for players and parents. Please remember to bring your boots, enjoy the games and try not to let your children make a fool of you.
