London Scottish are today announcing the departures of six players from the squad, as a result of the switch to daytime training hours and subsequent player unavailability.
James Kellard, Alex Clarke, Ben Lonergan, Marcus Bloomberg and Mungo Strachan are all permanently leaving the club, with Aaron Liffchak having joined Rosslyn Park on loan.
Ever since the club decided to switch to a daytime training schedule, it was always acknowledged that some of the part-time players in the squad would not be able to commit to the new structure and would have to depart the club.
Director of Rugby Simon Amor: “I would like to thank them all for their commitment to London Scottish and their support of the changes which have been made in the best interests of the club. Their selfless support shows a huge amount about each one of their characters.”
“I would particularly like to thank James Kellard and Aaron Liffchak for their significant contributions last season in helping us maintain our Championship status and Alex Clarke and Ben Lonergan, who have both made such an enormous impact at the club over a number of years. Both are crowd favourites and were critical to our successful promotion season from National 1 in 2010/11 as well as our first season in the Championship last year.”
“I and everyone involved in the playing department at London Scottish wish them the very best of luck with their next steps.”
