As Edinburgh University arrived in Richmond for Friday night’s Varsity match, their Old Boys team took to the field against the London Scottish Highlanders, triumphing 15-21.
The Highlanders hosted the St. Andrews Old Boys in an early kick off on Saturday but the former students arrived late and the game kicked off at 12.15pm.
Uncontested scrums were the order of the day as the students failed to provide a front row but, nevertheless, there were three tries from both teams, of which the Highlanders failed to convert any. And it was this profligacy from the kicking tee that cost the Highlanders the match as the Edinburgh Old Boys gaining the additional six points from three successful conversions.
The game gave some of Highlanders a good amount of game time that would help keep them fit and raring to go in this coming week's league fixtures.
A Christmas social followed the game on Saturday, in which the players were treated (depending on your allegiance!) to watching the All Blacks lose a thriller against England at Twickenham.
