Seasoned journalist and London Scottish rugby player joins the LSFC office to aid in matters of press and public relations.
RICHMOND, UK. — October 12, 2009 — London Scottish FC today announced that Rob Kerr will join the organisation as PR and press manager for the Richmond based rugby club, effective immediately. Having been a notable journalist whilst playing socially for the club he now turns his attention to aiding London Scottish and its media presence within the mainstream press, local, national and sports related titles all to boost the rugby club and players’ profiles within the media.
“London Scottish has a remarkable amount of talented players this season, just as they have since conception in 1878. With last season being a testament to that very fact, with over a thousand points achieved and a perfect unbeaten track record both home and away – the future is definitely very positive for London Scottish” said Rob Kerr. “I’m very proud and honoured to be a part of London Scottish and working with a talented team to aid in furthering the success of the club for the future, over the coming season and beyond”.
London Scottish was formed at a general meeting in MacKay’s Tavern, 3 Water Lane, Ludgate Hill in London on Wednesday April 10th 1878. From this beginning the club has gone on to produce more international players for Scotland and more Scotland, British and Irish Lions captains than any other club. London Scottish styled itself on an FC, though strictly all purely rugby clubs formed after 1864 should have been RFCs. The club played its first matches in the 1878-79 seasons, 15 of which were all against mainly local sides of whom only Wasps still exists.
London Scottish won the Middlesex 7s several times in the 1960s, and was high in the old Merit Tables before leagues were introduced. The club formed a professional side in 1995, winning promotion and enjoying premiership rugby before the professional club was disbanded for financial reasons. The original amateur club rejoined the leagues at the bottom of the pyramid in 2000 and since then have steadily progressed to National League 1.
London Scottish Rugby Club is a member of both the Rugby Football Union and the Scottish Rugby Union and shares the ground in Richmond with Richmond FC, having done so since 1894.
Rob Kerr is a seasoned journalist and rugby player where he brings his wealth of experience and knowledge to the London Scottish media team. He has written for well over a decade for a host of leading computing publications, on some of the world’s most outstanding titles such as WIRED and PC Magazine whilst having work quoted in the likes of Forbes, Reuters, BBC and other notable organisations.
