Locke back amongst the tries with double against the Titans

Drew Locke is relieved to be back playing against after his two-try man-of-the-match display in the 21-16 win over Rotherham Titans.

Locke had been on the sidelines for three weeks but returned in fine form on Saturday.

“I'm really happy to be back and over my injury.” Said the 29-year-old.

“Coming back and scoring was great but it was more important to get a much-needed win in the Championship that we have been waiting for.”

The Scots trailed 13-7 heading into the final 10 minutes, but two tries in two minutes from Locke and Oli Grove turned the game on its head.

“It was a great effort from the boys to finish the game the way we did and get the win against a strong side in what was a really tough match.”

The Scots now return to British and Irish Cup action with a double-header against Yorkshire Carnegie. First up is a trip to Scarborough on Sunday in a crucial match in Pool Three between the top two.

Locke was a try-scorer in the memorable  30-27 win at Headingley back in September, and says that the squad can use that match as a benchmark.

“We can head up to Yorkshire with our heads held high after a good win last weekend, and look back at the victory we had at Headingley to hopefully secure another win in the B&I Cup.”
