London Scottish U11s went on tour last weekend with all the other mini age groups to the Vectis Festival on the Isle of Wight.
Scottish took two U11 sides and each played in separate qualifying pools.
The sides were mixed to ensure all the players got a good amount of playing time.
Playing some great rugby, one LS side, won one, lost one and drew two – finishing second in a strong group.
The other side lost two and won two finishing third – again in a strong pool.
Both Scottish sides qualified for the finals, which was a fantastic achievement.
However due to injuries we combined the teams for the semi-finals.
At this point it’s worth noting that the team had to adapt to a different set of rules for this tour than the ones they had played to throughout the regular season.
In the semi-final we played a good Wanstead side beating them 4-1 with some excellent handling and passing to send our runners into space.
In the final we played a very strong Beckenham side who had beaten one of our sides in the pool stage.
A fantastic and determined team performance resulted in an exciting 2-0 win to Scottish, crowning them 2015 Plate Winners.
This performance is on top of the U11s recently winning the Middlesex U11 Festival, Bowl competition, beating a good Finchley side 2-1 in the final.
A great way to end a very successful season!
