Front row duo pen new deals

London Scottish is delighted to confirm that props Max Maidment and James Hallam have penned contract extensions with the Club.

Both players have been cornerstones of the Scottish front row since joining last summer and have played a key role in helping the Club finish in the top four of this season’s Greene King IPA Championship.

Maidment joined from Cornish Pirates and his form was rewarded with a place in the Championship XV squad which memorably defeated Canada back in November.

Hallam, who joined from Newcastle Falcons, has been a mainstay in the side and somewhat of an unsung hero for the Scots with his consistent displays proving why he came so highly recommended by Falcons coach Dean Richards.

London Scottish Director of Rugby, Mike Friday, said: “It is a huge positive for the Club that both James and Max will continue their rugby career with us next season.

“Since forcing his way in to the team, Max has proven to be the most destructive scrummaging tight head in the Greene King IPA Championship.

“It was a real shame he got injured back in February but we have no doubt he will come back stronger and fitter next season and pick up where he left off, maintaining that aggressive energy in the tight and loose.”

He continued: “James has certainly lived up to the recommendation from Dean and stepped up at this level.

“He’s an up and coming prop with further to go in his development and next season could be a very big one for James.”

Maidment said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at London Scottish since joining from Cornish Pirates and delighted to have sorted my future out.

“It’s frustrating I’ll not be part of what will be an exciting end to this campaign but I’m determined to come back a better player next season.”

Hallam added: “I am very much looking forward to continuing my career at London Scottish.

“I have really enjoyed playing in this league with a competitive squad that has achieved some great results over the past seven months.

“I am now fully focused on finishing the season strongly and cannot wait for the play-offs to start next month.”
