London Scottish has received a huge boost ahead of Saturday’s vital home clash against Nottingham Rugby with powerful forward James Phillips signing a contract extension.
The 27-year-old has been in superb form since his move from Premiership outfit Exeter Chiefs in the summer and Scottish fans can now look forward to more of the same next season.
Phillips scored a try on debut against Rotherham Titans in the opening round of the Greene King IPA Championship and has not looked back since, his imposing physical presence adding an extra dimension to Scottish's attack and defence.
So far he has made 21 appearances for the Exiles, scoring four tries.
London Scottish Director of Rugby, Mike Friday, said: “It's fantastic news that JP has committed to the club.
“He is a big personality on and off the pitch whose no-nonsense approach complements the squad.
“His ability to play in both the back-row and second-row provides the squad with not only another effective ball carrier but great flexibility in our back five.”
Phillips said: “I have really enjoyed my first year at London Scottish and I'm glad to be extending my stay with the Club.
“I have played almost every week this season which is fantastic and it's pleasing how things have gone.
“The environment at London Scottish is great and there is a good team spirit. It was an easy decision to stay.
“Hopefully we can finish the season strongly and seal our place in the Championship play-offs this weekend.”
