After postponement and a couple of walkovers the senior teams had a quiet couple of weeks around the start of the Six Nations.
On the 7th of February the Claymores were due to play East Grinstead in a Shield 1 clash but a cup game forced East Grinstead to request a postponement and the game will now take place on the 18th of April.
With Bank of England pulling out of MMT2 The Kilts claimed a walkover and a club game was arranged for a combine Kilts and Claymores team to play Richmond Saxons on the back pitches.
It proved to be a good exercise as we got to try out some combinations and give players a chance to play a strong team that are doing very well in a higher league.
Scottish did well especially in the first half but with a few changes in the game and Saxons finding their feet, the end score was in favour of Richmond.
14th of February – Highlanders v Cinderford, Shield 1
The Highlanders hosted Cinderford United on Valentines Day but it was no love affair.
The Highlanders were really strong in the first half scoring two really good tries showing heaps of intent.
First try went to winger André Adeleke just after 13 mintes and fly half Harvey Young converted.
However an extremely harsh yellow to Young followed and Cinderford got the three points.
Adeleke claimed his second try of the afternoon after some good play and a brilliant break from Conrad Burne at full-back but Young missed the conversion.
Another three points were added before half-time 15-3 in favour of the home team.
Cinderford however got a five metre scrum at the start of the second half due to a Scottish mistake and got a pushover try as a result.
Cinderford were given two easy tries after elementary mistakes by Scottish and then finished the game off with a fourth try to take the spoils with a 15-24 scoreline.
This was another game the Highlanders could/should have closed out.
