As a Scottish exile, recently moved to London having graduated from Exeter, I was really keen to reach out to the London Scottish community in raising awareness of the Arctic Rugby Challenge and Wooden Spoon.

In April of this year, 14 of us will be trekking 100 miles to the Magnetic North Pole to set a Guinness World Record, playing a game of rugby on top of the World!

The expedition will be led by polar adventurer Jock Wishart and the two teams will be captained by Tim Stimpson (British & Irish Lion) and Ollie Phillips (former England Sevens captain).

This will be in aid of a fantastic cause with each of us organising events and seeking sponsors and partners in order to raise a significant sum for Wooden Spoon, the children's charity of rugby, which supports disabled and socially disadvantaged children through both capital based and community projects.

Through the scale of the challenge and the coverage we hope to receive, I'm also very excited by the prospect of raising the charity's profile throughout the UK, reaching members of the wider rugby community and beyond who know very little of Wooden Spoon and the work that the charity does.
