Miles Mantella admits today’s 22-18 defeat to Bristol was a game London Scottish should have won.

The winger celebrated his 51st appearance for the club with a try but says the team were left frustrated having led 18-9 early in the second half.

He said: “We all agreed that was disappointing. It’s a game that we really should have won in the circumstances.

“We’ll have a look at it but we were winning at half time and even though we played okay in the second half it just slipped away from us, so we’re not happy.”

The 23-year-old scored his 36th try for the club off an impressive set-piece move and despite the defeat Mantella was pleased to cross the line.

“I’m always happy to score,” he added.

“It’s a move we have been working hard on in training so I’m sure Peter Richards will be pleased with that.”

Scottish head to Connacht next weekend in a must-win game if they harbour hopes to progress in the British and Irish Cup.

Mantella knows it will be a tough game but is keen to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later.

He said: “Connacht is going to be another difficult game in this pool but we really want to win before heading back into the Championship.”

London Scottish’s next home game is a Greene King IPA Championship clash against Jersey on Friday, November 14, 7.45pm kick-off.
