In the second round of league matches on Sunday, London Scottish U13s faced the Harpenden B team and continued where they had left off in their previous league match against Hertford.
Strong direct running was a theme during the match which saw the U13s scoring ten tries resulting in a 59-17 win.
The first two tries came in quick succession from Marcel and Cameron.
Both were as a result of some good handling, passing out of the tackle and excellent support play.
After eight minutes the LS team was leading by 12-0.
During the game there was some good individual performances in tackling and rucking from Kyril, Charlie and Eli.
But overall the match lacked the same intensity and urgency of earlier encounters.
Harpenden started to gain some possession out-rucking a hesitant Scots side but were occasionally let down by handling from which LS took advantage.
When the LS backline had the ball it always threatened the line: a further five tries were run-in before the end of the first half with Charlie, Marcel, Jacob and Cameron (twice) crossing the line.
Jacob’s try started from a ruck just inside the opponent’s half, Charlie dummied and made a half-break, the ball went through the hands of the line, finishing in the full back’s hand for the touch down.
Before the end of the first half, the Harpenden team found its feet and its strongest runner who beat the defence and ran in a try from his own half.
The second half started at a slower pace with Harpenden enjoying a bit more possession; the team’s rucking and perseverance were rewarded with a couple of tries.
However, LS scored two further tries one from Cameron and one from Alec, who showed strength in running after Cameron had turned-over the ball in an earlier ruck.
Another hat-trick for Cameron and a first for Marcel.
Final score 59-17
