Peter Lydon praised his team-mates for their second half in which they scored seven tries in London Scottish’s 64-16 victory over Plymouth Albion.

Scottish led 21-16 at the break but ended the game emphatic 64-16 winners after an impressive second half display.

Lydon said: “The second half was great, we did what the coaches wanted after half-time and it worked really well for us.”

He added: “We cut out the silly penalties and poor discipline that was keeping them in the game and then we were very clinical in our finishing.”

The Irishman scored in the opening minute of the match to give Scottish a perfect start: “It was ideal, we have worked on that in training with the high line speed and it’s good to see when hard work pays off just like it did then.” Said Lydon.

Scots now have a break in the Greene King IPA Championship and head to Wales to face Pontypridd in the British and Irish Cup and the 22-year-old sees it as a big challenge: “We have a tough pool with Bristol, Connacht and Pontypridd but it’s great to play other teams and see where we are.”

He continued: “On a personal level it will be nice to go to Connacht and play against some guys I know so I’m looking forward to that but we all want to make sure we get out of the group and see from there.”
