Ealing Power Through Scottish in Back to Back Weeks

01st December 2024

Two back to back trips against the Championship champions was never going to be an easy challenge for London Scottish. An injury ravaged Exiles side travelled, to Ealing though with hope that they could cause and upset.

And in the opening minutes of the game a repeat of last year’s game looked possible. An early Ealing try did not deter Scottish as Tom Osborne picked through the middle of the ruck to race in from 20m for his first try of the season.

Quickly after that Robbie McCallum made a lovely break down the left hand side before linking up with Stephen Kerins for the try. The scrum half was unfortunately injured in the incident after he was hit on the floor after scoring the try.

It was then the momentum flipped against Scottish with Ealing running in another five first half tries. With Ealing fly half Craig Willis perfect from the tee that would see the score stand at 42-14 to the hosts.

After the break Scottish were able to stem the flow but not completely stop the champions. Three more tries from the hosts saw them rack up sixty points. However, a beautiful line out move from Scottish followed by a try from close range did see them pick up a bonus point in the last play.

What could prove to be a crucial point but ultimately a disappointing day out for the Exiles. Now into a run of massive games starting with Ampthill at the RAG followed by Bedford, Caldy and Chinnor, December is a massive month for London Scottish.
