Scrum-half Jamie Stevenson is pleased with how pre-season has gone and is now fully focused on delivering a win in London Scottish’s opening Greene King IPA Championship clash tomorrow.
The Scots host Rotherham Titans at Richmond Athletic Ground, 3pm kick-off, looking to carry momentum forward from last Saturday's Glasgow Warriors friendly.
Stevenson said: “We’ve had a good pre-season, it was long and we worked hard but we are now in a good place for the season to start.
“All the games were tough but the coaches and players all put in a big shift to get prepared.
“There were positives in all of the pre-season games – our defence against Saracens, we were fairly clinical versus Esher and attacked well in that second half against Glasgow.
“That game was a great occasion for the club and the intensity was right up there.”
The 22-year-old is expecting a tough challenge on Saturday afternoon but says the squad is hugely motivated with Rotherham having finished just above them last season, securing the last remaining Championship play-off place.
“Our games against Rotherham are always close,” he said.
“We have home advantage and we want to use this game to set down a marker for the team’s around us.
“Last year we were very close to the top four and over the last few seasons we have progressed a lot.
“We are an ambitious club that wants to be in the play-offs.”
