London Scottish can today confirm the departure of four players who will be joining Ealing Trailfinders next season.
Backs James Love and Andy Reay and forwards Jamie Kilbane and Paul Spivey will be playing their rugby at Vallis Way as Trailfinders look to bounce straight back following relegation from the Greene King IPA Championship last season.
Utility back James Love joined London Scottish in 2012 and was the Club’s top points scorer in his first season at the Athletic Ground.
The former Plymouth Albion player was the side’s first choice goal-kicker and contributed 218 points during the 2012/13 season but found opportunities limited last season due to the form of wingers Miles Mantella and Mike Doneghan as well as full-back Jim Thompson.
Centre Andy Reay joined London Scottish in 2012 from Moseley making 45 appearances during his two seasons at the Club.
He formed a useful partnership with outside centre Oli Grove last season but will now make the move into coaching at Ealing whilst continuing as a player.
Prop Jamie Kilbane joined London Scottish last summer following eight seasons at Rotherham Titans but injury and the form of fellow front row forwards Eric Fry and Tomas Francis saw him restricted to just 11 first team appearances.
Paul Spivey enjoyed a fruitful maiden season at London Scottish during the 2012/13 campaign but the second row forward was always playing catch-up last term after picking up an injury in pre-season which allowed Tyler Hotson and Dave Lyons to establish themselves as the preferred options in the boiler room.
Head Coach James Buckland said: “All four of them were key characters in the squad who worked really hard last season on and off the park and I am sure they will do very well at Ealing Trailfinders.
“James Love found himself down the pecking order last season but I expect he will get regular game time at Ealing and score plenty of points.
“Andy Reay is going to Ealing to take on a player-coach role which is fantastic.
“It is great for his development and he will do a super job on and off the pitch.”
He continued: “Jamie has been a great character to have around the Club. Even when he wasn’t playing he pushed the team on and I was really pleased when he got a run of games at the end of the season.
“Paul Spivey is someone who needs to play games and he was unfortunate to find himself behind two good second-rowers last season.”
