London Scottish have signed a ‘quality leader’ according to Head Coach James Buckland after securing Ealing Trailfinders skipper Adam Preocanin on a two-year deal this week.
The 26-year-old second row forward makes the short move across the capital determined to show his worth following two seasons at Trailfinders.
A product of the Saracens Academy and a former England age-group player, Preocanin has played the majority of his senior rugby in Brisbane, Australia, for Eastern Districts and the University of Queensland.
He spent a total of five years Down Under before moving back to the UK in 2012, helping Trailfinders earn promotion into the Greene King IPA Championship in his first season at the club.
This year he could not prevent Ealing from dropping out the division on the final day of the regular season but his desire to continue playing in England’s second tier was quickly seized upon by London Scottish who have secured his services until the end of the 2015/16 season.
Head Coach James Buckland said: “We were very impressed by his leadership qualities when we met Adam and he was a stand-out player and captain for Ealing most of last season.
“He has the ability to play six but predominantly he will be our line-out leader.
“We want ambitious players at London Scottish and Adam fits that mould given he is determined to play at the highest level possible.”
Preocanin said: “I’m massively looking forward to next season.
“I wanted to play Championship rugby and London Scottish is a hugely ambitious club.
“If you look at their performances in the last few years, they are on the up and I don’t see why we shouldn’t aim to continue that and target the top four next season.
“I feel I can give a lot to the team and playing with the likes of Mark Bright and Miles Mantella is something which I cannot wait to do.”
