Former Scotland Under-20 cap Matt Heeks says ‘it’s great to be home’ after joining London Scottish for a third spell this week.

The scrum-half makes the switch from Rosslyn Park and faces an intriguing battle with fellow Scot Jamie Stevenson for the number nine jersey next season.
 
Heeks joined Rosslyn Park from London Scottish two seasons ago and his performances for the National One outfit earned him a call up to the English Counties squad which he has represented for the past two years.
 
This season Heeks was part of the Rosslyn Park squad which narrowly missed out on promotion to the Greene King IPA Championship and at the turn of the year he enjoyed a brief spell on loan at London Wasps.
 
Heeks was part of the Scottish youth set up since the age of 18 representing Scotland at Under-18, 19 and 20s level.
 
During his first spell at London Scottish, he helped the Club earn promotion through the National Leagues and the opportunity to return to the Athletic Ground on a full-time basis was something Heeks was keen to grasp.
 
The 26-year-old said: “I still have my National Three winner's medal and it's strange to think the Club are now back competing near the top of the Championship.
 
“Speaking to some of the players that are here, they say the Club has really pushed on over the past 12 months so it's an exciting time to be involved.
 
“It's like being home and feels great to be back. I have signed a two-year contract which gives me an opportunity to really knuckle down and help the Club push for the top four next season.”
 
London Scottish Head Coach James Buckland said: “Matt has got the right kind of personality to take control of our forward pack and get them working for him.
 
“He brings the same energy that Jamie Stevenson does and scrum-half is a key position for us.
 
“It's important we operate well in that department next season and having played at the Club in the past, it will not take long for Matt to settle in.”
