London Scottish Club captain Lewis Calder will be leading the way as players take on the Movember challenge.
The month of Movember, formerly known as November, sees men around the world grow a moustache of all shapes and sizes to raise awareness and funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.
Lewis, not shy to don a beard in his time, has had the razor out as he focuses on crafting his new look moustache over the coming weeks.
And we’ll be on Mo Watch throughout the month taking pics as the Mos begin to take shape.
Lewis’s inspiration is our popular match day host David Kurk who was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year and is now heavily involved raising awareness of the illness.
He is calling on all London Scottish supporters to get behind the Movember campaign and take on the hairy challenge.
At our three home Greene King IPA Championship games in Movember – Jersey (November 10th), Leeds Carnegie (November 16th) and Mosley (November 30th) – we want fans to take pictures inside the Athletic Ground showing off their Mos and post them on our Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page.
The most creative Mos will stand a chance of winning a 2013/14 signed first team jersey.
Our photographer Ray will also been on standby taking snaps of our favourite Mos during the three home games in Movember.
This competition isn’t just open to men! We want women to take part in the fun challenge but don’t worry – fake moustaches will be accepted in our competition!
Captain Lewis, who has joined Kurky’s Movember team online, said: “I’ve challenged the boys to take part and I’m pretty sure we will see some fairly unique Mos in the next few weeks.
“I would urge all our fans to come on board and take part in what’s a really worthwhile cause.
“Kurky has been through a tough few months but in typical fashion he has risen to the challenge and beaten the illness.
“Kurky just went for a chance check up and discovered he had prostate cancer. Men need to ‘man up’ so to speak and get themselves checked.”
