London Scottish can confirm that centre/wing Ryan Westren has joined from Cornish Pirates for the rest of the season.
A close season signing for the Pirates from the Cornish All Blacks, he featured in a pre-season friendly, was used as a replacement away to Nottingham, and played the full eighty minutes in the convincing British & Irish Cup wins against Bristol and Plymouth Albion.
In recent weeks Ryan has had a loan spell back at the Cornish All Blacks where he scored three tries in as many games. Last season, with 25, he not only broke the Launceston club's try-scoring record in a season but also finished the top try-scorer (one try ahead of David Howells!) in National One and was also selected at outside centre in the 'Rugby Times' National One Dream XV.
Head Coach Simon Amor was pleased to welcome Ryan to the squad: “Ryan is a proven try scorer, who will bring an increased attacking threat to our squad. Along with David Howells and Mark Bright, we now have three of the top five try scorers from National League 1 last season. We look forward to seeing what he can do in a Scottish shirt.”
Ryan will be available for selection this Saturday against Doncaster Knights (3pm Kick Off). To purchase tickets, please click here.
