Clubman Alex Akoto and Frank Sackey travelled to Kampala in Uganda last week to compete in the Africa Men’s 7s rugby tournament.
Both Alex and Frank are members of London Scottish and have been for the last few years.
The tournament was a huge success for the Ghanaians as they challenged some of the best African teams and ended up finishing 9th at the tournament and gaining a World Rugby ranking!
The Ghana Eagles drew 19-19 against a well oiled Tunisia side to kick off the tournament who were ranked 4th at the competition but after that they narrowly lost out in their remaining pool games. They would have gained some invaluable experience playing against Uganda who regularly compete on the World 7s Series.
The Ghanaian squad can be very proud of themselves and what they achieved at their first tournament. They will be looking to build on this success in future tournaments and will be looking to rise up the rankings.
Everyone at London Scottish is extremely proud of Alex and Frank and the commitment they have shown and they can be very proud of their efforts.
