London Scottish is delighted to announce the appointment of Nic Rouse as Head Coach, reporting to Director of Rugby Dave Morris. Nic is 37 years of age and lives with his family in Twickenham. We look forward to welcoming Nic, his wife Sarah, and his children Jimmy and Blair to the RAG.
Nic played for Nottingham, London Irish and Sale Sharks as a hard tackling lock, renowned for his lineout expertise and graft, voted by his fellow players as Player of the Year in 2015. In well over 150 games for Nottingham he was selected for the Championship Dream Team on 3 occasions and so knows the Championship very well.
Since retiring through injury in 2016 Nic has been coaching at London Irish and most recently for the last three months as Acting Head Coach at Rotherham Titans, leading their revival in the second half of the season including a good win in the derby match against Yorkshire Carnegie last Saturday.
Rouse was looking forward to starting his new role with the Scots. “I’m delighted to be joining London Scottish, a club I’ve enjoyed playing against during my time at Nottingham. The facilities at Lensbury are outstanding and the club environment is one that players and coaches alike can thrive in. I am also very pleased to be back in South West London with my young family.”
Director of Rugby Dave Morris was also excited about Nic Rouse’s arrival. “I am delighted to welcome Nic and his family to London Scottish. The Head Coach role is an important development for us moving in to next season as we try to optimise our structure to drive performance on and off the field.
Nic is well connected with the rugby community, especially in South West London, which will be beneficial across all of London Scottish.”
Morris continued to refer to the improvements Rouse has made at Rotherham Titans since he took charge.
“The turnaround in performances by Rotherham Titans since Nic has been Acting Head Coach has been very impressive.”
