(Assistant) Strength & Conditioning Coach – London Scottish

 

London Scottish is seeking to appoint a part-time Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the 2014-15 rugby season (x2 days per week).

The successful applicant will work as part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team and will assist in the planning, delivery and monitoring of all aspects of the London Scottish Strength & Conditioning Programme to the professional playing squad.

Expected start date: 1st June 2014

Qualifications

 

Undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Science or equivalent (BSc)

 

Recognised strength and conditioning qualification, NSCA, CSCCa, NASM PES (preferably NSCA)

 

 

 

 

FMS Certified

 

Recognised sports nutrition qualification (Precision Nutrition, IOC Diploma, under or post-graduate qualification)

 

Certified First Aider

 

'UKAD Anti-Doping Advisor' Accreditation

 

 

Experience / Knowledge

 

At least 1 years experience working in professional sport (preferably team sports)

 

Excellent coaching skills and manner and an ability to work under pressure

 

Demonstrable in-depth understanding of strength & conditioning theory, principles of periodisation and other associated subject matter

 

Ability to effectively programme within the London Scottish Strength & Conditioning Framework

 

Ability to manage and co-ordinate programmes and athletes at an elite level

 

Demonstrable evidence of continued professional development

 

 

Experience working within rugby union

 

Understanding of up-to-date nutrition strategies for team sports

 

Prior experience using GPS & HR monitoring systems (Catapult / Polar Team)

 

Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team

 

 

 

 

 

 

Additional Requirements

 

Positive, team-orientated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills

 

Competent & confident in the use of Microsoft Excel

 

Available to work flexible hours

Strength & Conditioning Placement

 

London Scottish is pleased to offer a x2 full-time / part-time work-based placements within their Performance Department assisting with the Strength & Conditioning staff for the 2014-15 season.

This placement is unpaid. The successful applicant will assist within an experienced multi-disciplinary team to provide the London Scottish Strength & Conditioning Programme to the professional playing squad whilst being submersed in a stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will have access to the following throughout their placement with London Scottish:

– Ongoing S&C mentoring from the club's senior Performance Department staff

– Internal & External CPD events, opportunities and courses

– Networking opportunities throughout the placement

– Opportunities to assist the squad on away trips, including overnight stays

– London Scottish kit provision

Essential Criteria:

– Currently enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate study within a relevant subject area

– Seeking placement as part of university endorsed placement scheme (sandwich year or equivalent)

– Have experience providing strength & conditioning services to high-level athletes, preferably within team sports

– Possess strong aspirations to pursue a career in strength & conditioning

– Evidence of up-to-date knowledge of strength & conditioning theory and its practical application within team sport

– Good organizational and communication skills

Desirable Criteria:

– NSCA Accreditation

– Competent & confident in the use of Microsoft Excel

– Qualified first aider
