The Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Commonwealth Games on Wednesday was a colourful and flamboyant event which sought to encapsulate everything that is great about the host nation – Scotland.
One of the most memorable sights was of dancers dressed up as Tunnock's teacakes which prompted fantastic global coverage for London Scottish's Best of Scottish partner.
An Australian media outlet described the dancing teacakes as 'one of the quirkiest moments of the Opening Ceremony.'
Indeed sales of Tunnock's teacakes soared following the Ceremony with one supermarket chain reporting an increase of more than 60 per cent within 24 hours!
Fergus Loudon, operations director of Tunnock's, explained they had no idea the Opening Ceremony would feature dancing teacakes, although they had given permission for the iconic image to be used.
Everyone at London Scottish would like to congratulate Tunnock's on this PR victory and we look forward to their continued support.
Next season, Tunnock's will be sponsoring the Club's Aberdonian prop Ben Prescott.
