After another pulsating season of Greene King IPA Championship rugby, the shortlist for the Greene King IPA Championship Player of the Year Award 2015, in association with the RFU, has today been confirmed.

The Greene King IPA Championship Player of the Year Award, presented at the RPA Players' Awards 2015, is awarded to the player who has been voted as the most outstanding in this season's Championship and will be unveiled during the awards ceremony to be held at Battersea Evolution, London, on Wednesday 13th May.

The award was voted for by the captains of each Championship club.

The nominees for the Greene King IPA Championship Player of the Year Award 2015:

Mark Bright – London Scottish: The Championship's leading ever try scorer in a single season with 24 tries so far this campaign, from number eight.

Matthew Morgan – Bristol Rugby

Alex Rieder – Rotherham Titans

Quotes from the Championship Player of the Year Award nominees:

London Scottish number 8, Mark Bright, said: “It's a fantastic feeling to be nominated for this award, especially as it's voted for by the Championship club Captains. While I'm indeed very humbled and thankful for their support and encouragement, rugby remains a team sport and without my team-mates I wouldn't be where I am today.”

Matthew Morgan, fly-half for Bristol Rugby, said: “There's no better feeling in rugby than knowing you have people around you who want to see you do well. That's been the case for me, my teammates are brilliant, the coaches are superb and the Bristol supporter base have been outstanding. I owe them all so much and I feel very proud to be nominated for this award on their behalf.”

Rotherham Titans flanker, Alex Rieder, said: “It's an incredible honour to be nominated amongst two fine players in Mark Bright and Matthew Morgan. The Championship has produced some amazing talent this year and competition throughout the league has increased, so to be nominated out of such a strong contingent of players, remains a massive privilege.”
