Debutant Drew Locke pleased to get off the mark

Drew Locke was delighted to get over the try-line on his London Scottish debut, in an impressive 21-7 victory over Rotherham Titans at the Athletic Ground.

In what was the only pre-season match for Scottish, there were plenty of positives to take into the Greene King IPA Championship season opener against Moseley on Friday, 4th September.

First half tries from Locke, Mark Bright and Chris Walker were enough for the Scots to secure the victory.

Locke joined from Jersey in the summer, and was pleased to bring his try-scoring ability to the club at the first possible opportunity.

“It was great to get over the line and for a first run-out we showed a very good account of ourselves.” Said the 28-year-old.

He added: “We’ve been working very hard in pre-season and were defensively very solid today. The wet conditions didn’t make things easy but 21 points is pleasing for sure.

“We’ve still got lots to work on and have got two weeks now before the start of the Championship and we’re all really looking forward to it.”

The centre got his and the team’s opening try on 28 minutes, and he will be hoping that it becomes a familiar sight for London Scottish supporters throughout the season.
