London Scottish is delighted to announce the signing of second row Declan Johnson. Declan is the second player to join up with the squad as part of the Club’s relationship with the Navy.

Playing in a crucial position in Champ rugby, Declan brings size, power and tactical nous to his game as he looks to step into the Championship and make a big impact for Scottish.

Director of Navy Rugby, Tom Blackburn has commented on the news when he said “It has been an incredible journey for Declan. To come back physically and mentally from a tough injury and march straight back into the 2025 Inter-Service squad – having earned his first cap in 2019 – is a proof of his resilience and determination. His commitment to the game is clear, not just as a player but also as a coach – from leading the Academy XV to recently being appointed as the Royal Navy U23s coach. As he takes on this exciting new challenge with London Scottish where he will bring physicality and power, we couldn’t be more pleased for him.”

London Scottish Head Coach, Joe Gray has also commented on the news when he has said “physically Declan brings a lot to this squad, he’s powerful and will have a great impact on the league. However, equally he brings a tactical side to him across the set piece and around the park. I can’t wait to get to work with him!”
