Doncaster Down Scottish at the RAG

Following two matches decided in the final throws of the game, expectations were high for another entertaining game between London Scottish and Doncaster as the Knights made the journey to the RAG and they would not be dissapointed.

Doncaster edged the early exchanges winning a couple of penalties in the Scottish half resulting in two penalties to take the visitors into an early 6-0 lead. The away side would then put the foot down and build pressure in the London Scottish 22 forcing penalty after penalty.

The power of the driving maul would prove too much for London Scottish and Doncaster would fine the try line and with it earn the yellow card for London Scottish loosehead Tom Osborne.

However, this would spring the Exiles into life, down to fourteen men the home side worked some excellent space on the flanks and with great offloading and interplay between the forwards, Will Brown would set himself free on the left win to dot down for the try.

The score would remain 5-13 as the half time whistle sounded with Scottish knowing they would need a fast start to the second half to get back in this game. With the wind at their backs they got just that. A Jack Ingall try from short range saw the Exiles go within one point of the Knights with a conversion from Alec Lloyd-Seed.

However, a loose exit from Scottish allowed Doncaster to reestablish their lead as quickly as Scottish had cut it. A try out wide took Doncaster back to an eight point lead. The Knights would come again and score once more as they looked to take control of the game heading into the final quarter of the match.

However, the Exiles would respond once again through Noah Ferdinand to get his side back within ten points. A long range penalty from Lloyd-Seed a few minutes later would put the Exiles within a score.

However, chasing the try that could level it up, Scottish over extended themselves on a kick chase allowing Doncaster to run from deep and score the closing try as the clock turned red.

Once again another valiant performance against a full time side but Scottish were unable to tame the Knights and would fall to a 20-34 defeat at home.
