London Scottish are delighted to announce the signing of prop forward Tomas Francis from Doncaster Knights as they continue to build their squad ahead of the 2013-14 season.

Francis joins Scottish from relegated Doncaster Knights, where he played last season alongside his final year of studying and playing at the University of Leeds. He adds to the front row resources available to Director of Rugby Simon Amor as Scottish seek to build upon last season’s 8th place finish.

The talented scrummager plays primarily on the tighthead side of the front row and made nine starts for the Knights last season, in addition to two appearances off the replacements bench.

Francis: “I’m delighted to be joining London Scottish. There’s a lot of momentum around the club at the moment and when I spoke with Simon Amor he talked me through the vision for the future, which was extremely exciting. I’m really looking forward to playing my part next season and to this next challenge in my career.”

The Yorkshire-born prop took up professional rugby after his coach at University recommended him to the Knights. He played for local clubs Malton and Norton in York before moving to Leeds to study Mechanical Engineering. He began playing for Doncaster during his second year and spent his third year contracted to the club, whilst continuing his final year of studying.

Simon Amor: “We’ve been impressed with Tomas during his time up at Doncaster and we’re delighted to be able to bring him onboard for next season. He’s a powerful young front rower with lots of potential and we’re looking forward to helping him develop his game in a London Scottish shirt.”
