The recent introduction of girls rugby at London Scottish has so far been very successful, with a healthy number of girls aged 6-16 turning up to the Sunday sessions.

On Sunday 2nd December, at the Richmond Athletic Ground, London Scottish are taking the next steps towards building a healthy girls rugby section, with flourishing teams in each age group.

The girls in attendance will be introduced to the relevant London Scottish minis age groups to experience a mixed session within their age group. The sessions will be led by London Scottish coaches and the girls will play and train alongside players with the same age as part of their rugby development.

This practice is recommended by the RFU but we will also continue doing our London Scottish girls-only sessions separately to cater for their specific development needs.

For the girls 13-16, London Scottish will welcome Grasshoppers RFC junior girls for a combined training session and tag rugby games. This is a great initiative and a very popular way of developing girls rugby around Middlesex. Our junior girls have indicated that they want to play contact rugby soon and this initiative will be a step closer to achieving that.
