Highlanders set to sting Tring!

27th September 2011

The London Scottish Highlanders are looking to continue their unbeaten run as they host Tring on Saturday afternoon

Coach David Box has been impressed by the young team's approach to the season, “It's fair to say the buzz word around the Highlanders squad this year is responsibility. Young players are maturing and with that comes improved decision making, our guys are taking the right options through the course of game and that is putting points on the board.”

The Highlanders have been a source of many talented players over recent years. Hooker Ross Grimstone (pictured above) played for the Highlanders last season before being offered a contract with the professional squad, and made his First XV debut this season against London Welsh.

Box, together with backs coach Gerwyn Wilson are excited by the talent developing in the squad. When pushed to single out players to keep an eye on Wilson replied; “Obviously Rich McCallum is hard not to notice and Jack Porter is playing very well. As for the forwards, umm… the fellow with the cauliflower ears and thick neck looks solid, not sure of his name, actually you better ask Boxy”. Box later confirmed Tim Oakes and Tom Pellett were ones to watch on Saturday.

Saturday's game kicks off at 2.30pm and with the 1st team playing Sunday this will be a great opportunity to see the club's emerging talent in action! Entrance is free.
