London Scottish is delighted to confirm that Jake Sharp will join the club as Player/Coach after signing from Bedford Blues.
The fly-half has been one of the most consistent performers in the Greene King IPA Championship throughout his time at Goldington Road, and will add huge experience to the squad as the Scots continue to build towards the 2017/18 season.
Sharp joined the Blues from Saracens in 2009 on a dual registration deal before signing permanently in 2011, and is widely renowned as an excellent kicker out of hand and from the tee, which will give the Scottish back-line further options.
The 25-year-old made 188 appearances for Bedford, scoring 698 points along the way and helping the Blues reach the British and Irish Cup final in 2011, as well as qualifying for the Championship final in 2013.
He was also named in the Championship Dream team last season, and is looking forward to a new challenge at the Athletic Ground as he starts a new chapter in his career:
“This is a brilliant opportunity to take on a player coach role at a club with a great heritage. Working with a new coaching team and helping add to a great playing squad is an opportunity that I couldn't miss. It will be a brilliant challenge and one that I am looking forward to diving straight in to.”
CEO Carson Russell is excited to have secured the services of Sharp:
“Bringing in someone of Jake’s stature and experience will add significant value to our senior leadership group, tactical game plan and performance culture.”
He continued: “Jake is also a talented young coach as well as a proven force in the Championship, he is curious to explore new methods and looking forward to working with our young ambitious squad.”
