The Scots have made an ideal start to the B&I Cup with two wins from their opening two matches, so this game against Yorkshire will have added significance.
Victories over Munster ‘A’ and Ospreys Premiership Select have put Scottish top of the pool with Yorkshire narrowly behind in second. Next weekend sees Scottish travel to Scarborough to face Yorkshire in the first part of a B&I Cup double-header against the Championship side, where the credentials of qualification will be duly tested.
The last time Scottish faced Yorkshire Carnegie they recorded one of their most memorable victories in recent years, with a last gasp 30-27 win at Headingley. Yorkshire raced into a 10-0 lead but Scottish weathered the storm and held the lead until a last minute try levelled the scores at 27-27. With time running dead, Scottish were awarded a penalty and Peter Lydon’s kick secured a dramatic win.
Carnegie are also in a strong position in the British and Irish Cup, they opened their campaign with a convincing 32-10 win over the Ospreys before securing a losing bonus-point in a 14-9 defeat to Munster in Round Two.
