The Extra Bs welcomed Wasps in the return fixture in MMT3 on Saturday the 13th of January.
The away game was won with a score of 38-31 earlier in the season and the team knew that only a strong performance from the whole squad would allow Scottish to be victorious and continue their quest to win the league.
With two losses so far this season the Extra Bs knew they had to win their remaining games if they were to be in with a chance of claiming the league. These losses came against leaders London Cornish and Hammersmith and Fulham, where some questionable officiating did not do any favour for the Scots.
For once, the squad had a full compliment of 20 players allowing each players to focus on their job in their starting position, without having to worry about covering some over positions.
The Extra Bs started quickly and with some great play got their first score within 2 minutes. Confidence was high and the intent of playing a good game of rugby was even high, the ball was being chucked about in a very expansive manner.
The team was rewarded with 5 more tries in the first half with Wasps only adding one penalty. At half time the score stood at 38-3 but credit to Wasps, they were determined not to let the game slip away further and when Scottish had someone in the sin bin, they got two tries of their own.
Scottish added a great try at the 75th minute, one of their best of the game to seal the victory. The Bs won 45-20 and spirits are high going into the next game with the side sitting second in the league.
There’s no time for the side to rest on its laurels as the next game is away at league leaders, London Cornish, a mouthwatering top of the table clash. The game is on Saturday 20th January at Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields with a 14:00 KO
Captain, Alasdair Reid, is busy putting his side together and the team is looking forward to the challenge that London Cornish present.
